Chinese Laquered Coffin, and Shrine. 2 Albumen photographs.
Ca. 1900. Two photographs, one of a dark shiny laquered coffin arranged on two supports, on verso is a handwritten caption, "Foochan Lacquer, cost 200 pounds."
The second albumen photo is a shrine with many candles surrounding a statue, the title within the photo is "The Emperor Kien [Dung?] in the Shrine of the Temple 500 Genii, Canton", on verso is handwritten, 'Marco Polo in background.' (?) The Marco Polo statue is behind the Emperor's left shoulder.
Photographs 5 3/4 x 4", and 5 3/8 x 4" respectively. Lower corner of the laquer coffin image has a closed tear, both with slight wrinkling not affecting images. Very good condition. Item #25712
