London: December 24, 1788. Captain Dixon, along with Capt. Nathaniel Portlock, was sent by the King George's Sound Company in the 1780s to ascertain the extent of the fur-trade and other commercial possibilities on the northern Pacific coast of America. Dixon served under Captain Cook, on the HMS Resolution, on Cook's third and final voyage (1776 - 1780) to search for the Northwest Passage.

Large folio folding map shows the west coast of Canada and southern Alaska from Nootka to Cook's River, including Queen Charlotte Island. The map is entitled "... Chart of the Northwest Coast of America with tracks of the King George & Queen Charlotte in 1786 & 1787...

Published by Capt. G. Dixon, Dec 24th 1788, "engraved by W. Harrison & J. Reid". 35 x 23 1/2". Early repair to fold crack, otherwise good condition. Good + overall. Item #26160
