New York: D. Appleton & Co., 1899 - 1900. Autograph Memorial Deluxe Edition. Hardcover. The New Metropolis, signed by Andrew Green, the man responsible for consolidating the 5 boroughs of New York into the city as we know it today, WITH Pictures of Old New York, 2 oblong folio portfolios of the companion prints, in matching bindings, one of 250 copies of the "Autograph Memorial Edition de Luxe", a large paper edition. The book was issued to celebrate the consolidation, which occurred just the year before publication, in 1898.

A profusely illustrated comprehensive work on New York, encompassing its history, culture, architecture, and society, illustrated with 1,000 engravings and color prints. Number 178 of 250 copies of the "Autograph Memorial Edition de Luxe", a large paper edition. This set printed for John C. Juhring, the wholesale grocery millionaire partner of Francis H. Leggett & Co. (his name printed on the Limitation page).

Green (1820 - 1903) was also instrumental in keeping the creation of Central Park on track; and he pushed through the work on the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History. He co-founded the Bronx Zoo, brokered the creation of the New York Public Library, and participated in projects such as Riverside Drive, Morningside Park, and Fort Washington Park.

The New Metropolis; oblong 4to, xxii, 639 pp, Index [32] pp, all edges gilt. Full brown pebbled & smooth leather, with gilt titles and seals on the front cover. Front board slightly marked; otherwise very bright and clean.

[With] Pictures of Old New York; two oblong folio portfolios of prints of the deluxe Author's Autograph Edition, of Zeisloft's New Metropolis. Published in New York: 1899-1900.
Containing 24 mounted and matted prints, some in color. Publisher's brown pebbled leather & tan cloth, lettered and stamped in gilt. The ties for the portfolios are missing. OCLC: 41798697; OCLC: 80417959.
