St. Louis Iron Railing Manufactory. Trade handbill sample.

New York: Milton Emerson & Co, Ca. 1853. Handsome engraved handbill for the St. Louis railing maker McMurray & Pawly, with an illustration of a section of very ornate wrought iron railing, and printed in a variety of type faces.

Printed on thick wove paper with the verso featuring a William Bartlett engraved view, entitled "Canning Dock and Custom House, Liverpool". This unusual combination of trade card and steel engraved print appears to be a repurposing of surplus engravings by the NY printing firm, which they used to print up samples of cards he was printing. 10 1/2 x 8". Slight foxing at the bottom margin. Very good overall. Item #26258
