New Orleans 'St. Louis Hotel'. Trade handbill.

New York: Milton Emerson & Co, Ca. 1853. Handsome steel engraving advertising this important New Orleans hotel, printed in a variety of type faces within an ornate decorative border. The St. Louis was built in 1838 at St. Louis & Chartres Street, by Creoles competing with the Anglo American hotel known as the St. Charles. The St. Louis had a large slave auction block under its grand rotunda.

Printed on the verso is a Bartlett view entitled, "The Whirlpool on the Niagara". 10 1/2 x 8". Scattered fox spotting on the Bartlett view side. Good + overall. Item #26289
