Works of Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield. Embracing novels, romances, plays, poems, biography, short stories and great speeches.

London & New York: M. Walter Dunne, 1904. Edition Diplomatique. With an elaborate double page color illustration by Clare Victor Dwiggins describing this "Edition Diplomatique", "There have been printed 26 Lettered Sets of which this is Publisher's Copy Letter * ". Issued on parchment-like paper with two sets of plates. Full purple morocco, decorated in gilt, tan & red, spine in six compartments, front board with a central medallion of woman on horseback and a queen on her throne flanked by two women on the back board and a leaf border with crowns at the corners. Turquoise morocco doublure tooled in gilt, red and cream in a flower, staff and crown motif, purple moire & hand marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Illustrated throughout with two sets of illustrations, each with printed tissue page facing.

Of the various vanity limited editions of Disraeli's works, (Earl, Ambassador, Primrose, Prime Minister, etc.) this is surely the most sumptuous, being the Publisher's copy of a set limited to 26 lettered sets.

Spines very slightly but evenly sunned, overall a pristine set. Item #27195
