c 1760. Ephemera. A magnificent 1760's painting of a lion from the side and in a fanciful tropical landscape. The style is very much in the early mode before the lion became it became known through its exposure as a circus attraction. The title is calligraphed in black ink in three languages above and below. Right hand edge has red outer indicating this painting had been bound in an album. There is some chipping of that outer edge. Very good condition. Item #27230
