Lizars and printed by R. Morison and Son Perth July 1789. The copper engravings include a folding plate the Endeavour beached on the Australian coast; the Kanguroo; A Fly Flap of the Island of Ohiteroa... (Otaheite); View of the Island of Ulietea; a War Canoe of New Zealand; a Fortified Town or Village, called a Hippah...at Tolaga in New Zealand; View of the Inside of a House in Ulietea with the representation of a Dance. The owner "Ann Barnard May 29th, 1828" is inscribed on the ffeps.
Two volumes of a four volume set. These volumes deal with the New Zealand and Australia section of the voyage. Vol 3. (ii),iii, 241pp, 4 copper engraved plates Vol 4. iv, 245pp 2 copper plates including the fold out plate of the Endeavour beached at Endeavour River. Period full tree calf leather binding with the original red leather title label, gilt outer dentelles. Little ruffled top of vol. 4. A bright clean copy.
