New York: H. Phelps, 1846. First printing. poster map. Large, original hand-colored engraved broadside with a double-hemispheric world map, panoramic vistas, statistical charts and historical anecdotes all surrounded by an elaborate architectural border.

Notable points: Population of Sidney (sic) 20,000; population of Hobart 15,000.
There is a route charted from New York to China, no doubt to satisfy the demand for tea.
1845 Texas admited to the Union.
1846 Alarming difficulties between the US and England on the Oregon question.
Antarctica has the Wilkes discoveries marked in yellow with the words "Newly discovered continent". On the Western Hemisphere side appears "Victoria Land disc'd by Capt Ross."
