Vue de Sydney et de l'entree de la riviere de Paramatta [sic]. [A two view panorama of Sydney Harbor].

Paris: Gide, 1841. First printing. Print. Two lithographs composing a wonderful panorama of Sydney Harbour. Printed for the official account of the French voyage by Abel du Petit-Thouars, Voyage Autour du Monde sur La Venus 1836-1839. This is one of the rarest French voyages including Australia.

R.G. Mesnard (a typo for Menard?) was the artist on board the Frigate Venus and spent November and December 1838 at Sydney. The lithographers Freres, Thierry & Sabatier worked from the original sketches and their work was published in 1841.

Rex Nan Kivell Collection NK361; Libraries Australia ID 8136844. Pl. no. 63-64 of: Voyage autour du monde sur la fregate Venus. Atlas pittoresque / Abel du Petit-Thouars. The image size is 16.8" x 6.7", on paper 21 x 13.5". Lithograph with tan tint. Light general brown toning of the pages which suits the lithographed tan colouring. Otherwise very good condition.
