Mott was a well known American surgeon, working on the staff of Columbia College as Professor of Surgery. He went on to be one of the founders of Rutgers Medical College and of the Medical Department at the State University of New York.

Isaac Wood [1793 - 1868] was consulting physician to the New York Dispensary and Bellevue Hospital; consulting surgeon to the New York Ophthalmic Hospital; member of the American Geographical Society and fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. (American Medical Biographies, Wikisource)
