A decorative wall hanging using Outhwaite's "Playing with the Bubbles" postcard, published in the US with the original silk hanging ribbons.
c. 1926. Ephemera. An extremely unusual and as far as we can tell, unrecorded item published in the US by Moonlight & Roses, meant as a decorative wall hanging. The balsa-like wood is decorated on both sides. On one side is Outhwaite's "Playing with the Bubbles" postcard. The image is of a mermaid fairy holding a large bubble over her head~ a is the same as the postcard, with the addition of glitter highlights on the wings, tail, shells and water. The postcard on the other side of the wood is a split back postcard , headed by "Post Card; Made in U.S.A. / For Correspondence / For Address Only";. At the bottom left - "SERIES 980 B"; in the center "Moonlight & Roses" / bottom right an image of a fairy with arms folded over a decorative banner. The wood is gold flecked, with holes in the top with attached decorative hanging ribbon. The ribbons are cream with a tan border, with a pink , green and cream bow at the top. Corners a trifle rounded, but in remarkable condition overall. Although this information is not visible, the Outhwaite card image is from "Bunny and Brownie" , in the Elves and Fairies Series No. 73.
A remarkable survival. Item #28543
Price: $400.00
