1854, 5, 6, 7. A map which shows the confluence of personalities over the years leading up to the Civil War. Jefferson Davis was the Secretary of War under President Franklin Pierce and former president of the Confederate States; Gouverneur Kemble Warren was a West Point Graduate, American General, Civil Engineer and Cold Spring resident, named after Gouverneur Kemble, the founder of the West Point Foundry, which was instrumental in keeping the North supplied with cannon during the Civil War.

Title continues: "Ordered by the Hon. Jeff'n Davis, Secretary of War to accompany the reports of the Explorations for a Railroad Route made in accordance with the 10th & 11th sections of the Army Appropriation Act of March 3rd, 1853.
