Trier, Germany: Schaar & Dathe, 1915-18? 85 b&w postcards printed by Schaar & Dathe of Trier, who were one of the biggest German postcard printers and used During W.W.I, the company had 15 presses and employed 150 workers & used letterpress, lithograph, and collotype processes. Creating postcards during the war was an easy, affordable way to spread the news visually about the areas most affected by combat through images of ruins, life in the camps, and the cleanup efforts of soldiers and civilians. See the collection held by the Library of Virginia. The postcards are numbered & captioned on the verso. Slightly dusty, overall very good condition. Item #29358
