The adventures of goldfish in a pond, visited by frogs, a whale, a stork, and a little girl who peers over the edge. Text in gothic German. Wonderful and somewhat surreal illustrations by Kleyer, a German artist who trained under the Expressionist painter Ludwig Meidner. A period inscription in German on the illustrated title page reads, "Zum Andenken an Frau Kleyer" (In memory of Mrs. Kleyer); dated Jan 7 192[4].

Sml. folio, 18pp, text facing full page color lithographic illustrations. Original pictorial papered boards, cloth spine with tears, somewhat marked and chipped, text block loose in covers, internally very nice. OCLC: 255238897 locates only one copy, at the National Library Berlin. Good + overall. Item #6940
