Volume 1 (only) from 1842 which includes 56 hand colored lithographic plates (coffee, apple, pineapple, almond, iris etc.) and their descriptive text, PLUS a collection of 42 monthly issues dated 1845-1850, some from each of the volumes, each complete with their printed paper wrappers. Each issue contains 2 hand colored lithographic plate of medical plants along with a letterpress description of each.

In total there are 138 plates (56 from Vol. 1 1842; 82 from 1845-1850). Plants featured include olives, melons, water lilies, mushrooms, bread-fruit, grape vine, poppy, many medicinal plants & flowers, including the Swan River daisy. M. Burnett was the sister of Gilbert Burnett, the Professor of Botany at Kings Collage London.

Vol. 1 is 4to, disbound, lacking covers, 19pp botanical phraseology after title page and dedication, 56 plates with text, starting with Virginian Tobacco and ending with Peruvian Krameria, some light foxing on a few plates, o/w vgc. The monthly issues are a non consecutive run, 4to, with the recipient's name written on the front cover. Some dusting of covers, otherwise very good condition. Item #7448
